In line with its distributed insurance architecture, Smalltox continues to integrate external specialist services.
After integrating specialists in electronic signature (Yousign), contentious debt collection (Intrum), mail dispatch (MySendingBox), electronic cancellation and comparison services (Oggodata, Assurland, etc.), we are now integrating credit card payments with specialist Stripe.
Stripe has the advantage of being able to create accounts linked to a bank account without subscription, and to create payment links via webservice that can then be retrieved asynchronously by the client application. In other words, Smalltox retrieves the customer’s payment information even if he pays several days after the link is sent.
As a result, we have integrated these payment links into our pre-litigation processes (rejections, formal notices) so that customers receive a link enabling them to regularize their unpaid invoices.
Management departments and suppliers themselves can use the service to send CB payment links to customers in arrears. The payment link can also be retrieved as a webservice by our partners, and made available on their own supplier extranet.
The advantage of using an external partner with global reach is process security. Crucially, RGPD compliance and data security, in particular, must be secured :
- Transaction security is, of course, a top priority.
- Each partner only needs to have the information it requires. Stripe has no information on the identity of the payer, and Smalltox has no information on the credit card itself. This limits the consequences of any data loss on either side.
- Compliance (banking, RGPD, Insurance) is easier to achieve with a highly controlled and recognized partner.
- It is also important to protect customers against phishing by giving them an email that is as clear as possible and identifies the origin as clearly as possible (legal notices, logo, certain references to their contract – surname, first name, contract number, outstanding payment status). The Stripe page also features the logo of the organisation responsible for paying contributions by direct debit, making it easier for customers to identify them.
Everything is done to make the process more secure, while making it easier for policyholders to deal with their unpaid debts.
In this way, customers can protect their insurance more easily by avoiding the need to settle outstanding contracts by sending cheques or transfers, which are much less convenient than credit card payments.
As bankcards are not the only electronic means of payment, we have adapted our engine so that we can easily integrate other means of payment into the same process in the future. This integration will be based on requests from our partners and changes in policyholder usage.
