Sébastien Boutté, Director of Information Systems at Smalltox, presents in 1 minute what he does at Smalltox, the perspectives of his management and the challenges of IT at Smalltox, insurance software.

Sébastien is a computer engineer and is one of the best Java specialists in the field of non-life insurance. He continues to code, especially on the finer aspects of software algorithms. He is the principal architect of Smalltox.

The founding principle of this architecture is the genericity and adaptability of the engine. For example, the graphic interfaces of Smalltox are on a single page. A single page will manage all the graphic functions of Smalltox.

This requires that everything related to the products be delegated to independent tables and configuration classes.

All developments must enter the whole. That is to say, they must anticipate future market and customer demands. The bricks must serve themselves but also prepare the future bricks that will rest on them.

In the IT team, each developer works both independently on their topics that they take from start to finish, but also regularly exchanges with their colleagues, techleads, and architects so that their developments are in harmony with the assurance engine.

There are 3 standard production releases every week, which allows for being very responsive regarding partner requests and bug fixes.

All developments are made in France by Smalltox employees. The offices of the functional project managers are immediately next to those of the IT department, allowing facilitated exchanges. Thus, the work of computer scientists is rich, it includes:
• An insurance business knowledge since it is he who performs the analysis of the structured request reported by the AMOA;
• An algorithmic reflection so that its developments enter the logic of the software engine;
• Exchanges with colleagues for overall consistency.
